GLOBAL WARMING.

Climate is the average weather in a place
Climate is the average weather in a place
over many years. Climate change is a shift in
Those average conditions
The rapid climate change we are now seeing is caused by humans using oilgas and coal for their homes, factories and transport.the world is now about1.2cwarmer than it was in the 19th century and the amount of Co2 in the atmosphere has risen by 50percent.
Courtesy of googleTemperature rises must slow down inorder to avoid consequences of climate change scientists say global warming needs to be kept to 1.5C by 2100 unless action is taken the planet could still be warm by more than 2C by the end of this century (report in 2021 by the climate action tracker calculated that the world was heading for2.4C of warming by the end of the century)if nothing is done scientists think global warming could exceed 4C in the future leading to devastating heatwaves.
THE IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE.
Exreme weather events are already more intense threatening lives and livelihoods with further warming some regions could become uninhabitable while in other regions the opposite is happening with extreme rainfall leading to flooding.
People in poor countries will suffer mostly as they do not have money to adapt to climate change.
Oceans and habitats are also under threat wild fires are becoming more frequent as climate change rises risk of hot dry weather.
As frozen grounds melts in places like siberia greenhouses gases trapped for centuries will be released into the atmosphere in a warmer world animals will find it harder to find food and water.
WHAT ARE THE AUTHORITIES DOING?
countries agree climate change can be tackled by working together and in landmark agreement they pledged to keep global warming to 1.5C
Many countries have promised to get to net zero by 2050 this is by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by balancing out remaining emissions by absorbing equivalent amount from the atmosphere.
WHAT CAN INDIVIDUALS DO?
Major changes should come from the authorities but scientists say small changes in our lives can limit our impact on the climate.
We as individuals can also do:
●live car-free or use an electric car.
●Buy energy efficient products such as washing machines when they need replacing.
●Take fewer flights.
●Insulate your home.
